About

Anchor Chess Club (ANCC) is a new addition to Nairobi’s burgeoning chess community having been founded on 14th February 2016 by IA/ACM Paras Gudka in preparation for that year’s edition of the Kenya National Chess League.

Sadly, the league never took off due to internal wrangles at Chess Kenya, but Anchor Chess Club’s players could be seen training hard almost every Sunday afternoon at YWCA Hostels on Mamlaka Road.

After a premature closure for 6 months from July to December, the club was revived in January 2017 when three ANCC teams participated in the Strathmore University Teams Rapid Chess Challenge.
